Sherpa
Dear friends,
Today we said goodbye to our sweet, gentle soul Sherpa. He was our loyal and brave friend, right to the end. He gave us so much love and made our hearts bigger. It’s hard to imagine life without him.
Sherpa was born in Bella Bella, on Campbell Island in Queen Charlotte Sound, on October 27, 2004. He made his way to Vancouver in a cardboard box, on a sponsored Pacific Coastal Airlines flight when he was 9 days old. We adopted him through Big Heart Rescue, and he came to join us on Bowen Island in December 2004 at just 8 weeks old, and just three months after we moved to our new island home.
We shared countless adventures with Sherpa. From exploring the local trails on Bowen to hiking the mossy forests of Haida Gwaii, he was a great and enthusiastic traveller.
Sherpa passed gently and peacefully outside in our garden with the snow falling on him, just as his Husky spirit loved. We are pretty sure that today’s snowstorm was just for him. At almost 15 and a half (108!) he had much to celebrate and be proud of.
Thank you, buddy, for embracing life with us, for always giving us your whole heart, and for teaching your brother Guinness how to be a good boy. We will miss you more than we can say.
With much love,
Jen, Pete and Guinness
